We engage children and encourage them to write and this has become a very important aspect in helping children to develop creativity in story making/telling, nurturing a reading culture and also leaving them informed on the different topics and events taking place at home and around the world.
The pupils are required to write news articles everyday about home, school, country, foreign countries, entertainment, and environment and world sports. They are urged to read newspapers, summarize some of news articles they have red and report them like it was their own news story.At Lorencia we also have special programmes for children which include watching children TV programmes , news items,computer games among others to refresh their brains.
Our Children always enjoy different balanced meals at different intervals these include breakfast,breaktime,lunch, evening tea, supper and enjoying fruits,juice, icecream,chicken,soda,water and many others.
Every child who is admitted at Lorencia Junior school Nsangi leaves with basic skills and knowledge of the computer. And these lessons are offered from nursery to primary seven. The school computer laboratory is well facilitated with modern computers and instructors who are excellent in what they offer to our children. This gives pupils a competitive advantage when they join secondary schools where computer knowledge is examinable at the national level.
Apart from the 4 academic subjects taught in Uganda, Lorencia Junior School Nsangi has added on there are other vocational subjects/skills to teaches the children in order to prepare them for the future. And these include:
The teachers harness the local environment and use the available materials to engage the children in basketry, making ornaments like necklaces, modelling, drawing, painting, making table marts door marts/rags extra.
Our children learn to make good clothes which include dresses, uniforms among others as they prepare to become job creators than job seekers. Apart from sewing or mending their clothes, they gain knowledge of how to be self reliant. These skills prepare children to become future entrepreneurs as they are income generating skills. Day Care Section Day care is a special programme to cater for children in nusery, P.1 and P.2 whose parents are not able to collect them at mid-day when their classes are over. These are collected later in the afternoon (i.e. from 4:00pm onwards). Under day-care we do not offer academic work but entertainment and social skills. These include:
The school offers a complete curriculum whereby games and sports play are open to all children a part from a few with some issues. Each class timetable has periods for physical education and games. The school sports complex has facilities to ensure that a variety of games are played. These include football. Netball, swimming, athletics, Chess, Wood ball, Table tennis,Aerobics+ extra. Children's participation in sports at an early age works to develop their physique, skills, social relationships thus identifying and tapping into the different talents these children may have.
